Sixth graders are at camp and having lots of fun! Today they are enjoying rock wall, giant swing, canoeing and lots more! Rain has moved out and everyone is enjoying their time at camp!

This week our school community will be focusing on the character strength of Enthusiasm. Enthusiasm means you approach life with excitement and energy. You energize people around you. “You can’t start a fire without a spark.”--BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN

Thank you to all of the grandparents and VIPs who visited today! We love spending this special time with you!

We enjoyed meeting all of our special people today! The kids were great hosts taking them around the school exploring interactive stations!

North Elementary would like to reshare last week's The Buzz as it contains important information with specific deadlines.

The sixth graders would like to thank Mrs. Horn, from the RESD for the outstanding nutrition lessons this school year! Today was her last lesson for the year and we enjoyed a tasty and nutritious treat. Every student also received a Healthy Party Snacks book to enjoy as well. We love learning from our community members who help us empower our choices to choose healthy snacks.

Thank you Shelley Hirschman, through the Gratiot RESD, for teaching our 3rd graders the Healthy Schools Healthy Communities lessons! Kids have learned valuable life skills on keeping their bodies and minds healthy! We value your support and commitment for a healthier community.

This week our school is focusing on the character strength of Appreciation of Beauty and Excellence. Monday we not only celebrated Earth Day, but also found positivity in action by finding these beautiful tulips in our school yard. We hope you stop and find the beauty and excellence around you!

4th graders are getting ready for our field trip to the Capitol! The students had fun painting their tshirts and are looking forward to wearing them! We appreciate the time taken by the parents who came in to help!

5th graders were productive citizens today by cleaning up the community park in celebration of Earth Day!

North Elementary inventors are getting ready for our Invention Convention next Friday, April 26! Students have developed unique solutions to real world problems and are busy designing displays and prototypes to share with the judges. Be sure to ask North students you know about their projects!

This week our school community will be focusing on the character strength of Purpose. Purpose means you have beliefs about the meaning of life and your life’s purpose. Looking for oil! 4th graders took core samples from their Earth to find the best place to drill for oil (the pink part of the cupcake)! Next week, we will connect this to non-renewable resources and why we need to conserve them!

PTO and MAINTENANCE SHOUTOUT! Thank you to the PTO for helping us improve our school! We are not done yet, but our lobby has new furniture and a reading nook! Our lobby looks so nice! Also, thank you for purchasing a Gaga Ball pit! Thank you to our amazing maintenance workers Mr. Nelson and Mr. Schollaert for putting the Gaga Ball pit together over spring break! The students love it! We wonder if students will find Mr. Showers new napping spot! 😴 Swarm Together!

What an exciting experience today to get outside and safely view the eclipse! This is a memory that will last for a long time. Of course some students shared their parents' experiences when they were in school and how they viewed the eclipse back a few years ago!

Our final mini-soapbox derby race was held Friday. The four fastest cars from each sixth grade classroom competed for first place in a single-elimination bracket tournament. Congratulations to Ella and Clare...their "Shamrock Shake" car raced to the first place slot!
